Marie Arsenault is an artist who over the years has worked in oils, paper mache, decorative painting, watercolour and acrylics. She has studied watercolour at the Ottawa School of Art with Morton Baslaw and also studied with local artist Shawn McNevin and Nancy Mayron. In the summer 200l, Marie assisted in the painting of the mural on the Britannia Gallery.
Marie enjoys traveling. Many of her works have been inspired by her travels throughout Canada and other countries.
Marie was born in Chicoutimi, Quebec and raised in Ottawa. She obtained a diploma in Early Childhood Education at Algonquin College and worked in this field for seventeen years.
Since Feb. 2003, Marie has been a member of Art Fuse located in Stittsville. She rented studio space for the past three years and is an active member of the group. Marie has exhibited her work in several locations including the Annual Spring Open House at Art Fuse, Britannia Gallery and the Allegro Music Studio. Marie also was accepted to participate in the Ottawa’s Tulip Festival by painting a five foot tulip that was displayed during the festival, she also submitted work for a juried show the 2005 Mayor’s Art Festival and was accepted. She has produced commission work as well. Presently Marie has work displayed at the Britannia Art Gallery and has been accepted to show at the annual Merrickville Art Festival May 2006.
Marie paints in a realistic style. She has a passion for painting what is in front of her. Subjects range from landscapes to still life. Life as an artist started in her teens and will continue for many years to come.
